Jambula Children’s Centre

Background information

JCC is a self-innitiative project with an aim of curbing out the threatening problem of street children. Most children in Jambula village, are obliged to make home in the streets. Most of these children lost their parents at war or due to illness, like AIDS. They have no shelter and no one to lean on. While on the streets they usually do odd jobs for very little pay, leaving most of them with only one choice - theft. They begin pick-pocketing and taking drugs. Most of them are killed on the streets.

Our Vision:

Our dream will come true on that day when street children will be no more. We are making them home, and with your support, we shall make of them responsible citizens. In them we see the leaders of tomorrow, of them we shall make the same.

An Appeal:

With out your support we cannot make. We should all join hands and help curb down this problem. This may not happen tomorrow, it may not even happen soon. However, the work we shall begin today, if we do not complete, others will. We have to begin now.

AIMS and OBJECTIVES:

1. To make them home, providing them with the basic needs.

2. To restore hope and self-image to the street children by creating for them a sense of belonging.

3. To restore morals and religious order among them.

4. To reduce the vulnerability of these children to exploitation, a result of their plight.

5. To change public opinion and attitude towards them.

6. To change and influence the attitude of law-enforcing institutions towards these children.

7. To work closely with the government, the community, other organizations, and the world at large.

8. To help them identify, develop and build on their skills and talents, thus making of them responsible citizens.
